‘Dead’ river wins global eco tourism award
Blackstone Valley in New England has won the prestigious Destination prize in the 2008 Tourism For Tomorrow Awards. The awards are made by the World Travel and Tourism Council. Other key awards went to Ecotourism Australia, an accreditation scheme for green tourist projects, and RARE la Ruta Moskitia in Honduras, a project run by indigenous people living within the largest rainforest in Central America. A global tourism business award went to the luxury Six Senses Resorts and Spas.
