Mount Huangshan nominated for key award
A UNESCO Heritage Site in China has recognised as one of the best-run tourist destinations in the world.
Mt Huangshan scenic area was a finalist in the 2010 Tourism for Tomorrow Destination Stewardship award.
One of the top 10 scenic areas of China, Mt Huangshan in Anhui Province was singled out for its sustainable management by the award judges.
Director Jiwei Xu says conservation and energy management are key priorities for the region. He adds that the site now employs 4,500 people, 900 of them in nature conservation.
