Marriott to protect rainforest
MARRIOTT is to spend $2 million to protect 1.4 million acres of endangered rainforest in the Brazilian state of Amazonas. The money will fund an environmental management plan run by the Amazonas Sustainable Foundation. Hotel chain boss Bill Marriott says he is hoping other global hotel groups will follow their lead. He adds that by the end of the year, guests staying in Marriott hotels will be able to offset carbon emissions from their stay.
