Protecting our heritage

Cultural heritage is sometimes the poor relation of conservation, according to scientists and environmentalists at the Global Travel and Tourism Summit in Brazil.

Yet tourism can play a huge role in protecting ancient sites like the Angkor Temples in Cambodia or Stonehenge in England’s West Country.

Local communities can make more money by looking after sites rather than stripping the antiquities, the session heard.
