Chocolate Fish, a critically endandered species
Environmentalist and writer Gill Williams, author of 100 Alien Invaders, Bradt Publishing*, goes in search of the endangered and elusive New Zealand chocolate fish.
It's been hunted to near-extinction in the waters around New Zealand to satisfy endless demand from a hungry populace. Now scientists can reveal a second threat to this rare fish: global climate change. The warming of the seas around New Zealand may be causing melt-down of the outer layers of this unique species. Gill eventually finds a pair of these exotic fish amongst the pristine and protected reefs around Grand Cayman.
