The Selous Project
About this holiday
The Selous Game Reserve in Tanzania is one of Africa’s last great protected wilderness, extending 55,000 square kilometres and twice the size of Kruger National Park.
It is home to huge numbers of elephant, lion, leopard, crocodile and African Wild Dog.Yet, like all wild corners of the world, the area is under threat from human encroachment.
It’s vital that visitors come to the Selous if it is continue to be a haven for wildlife. Sensitively-run safaris provide long term employment for local people, giving communities an incentive to care for their natural environment
One project bringing people into the reserve is The Selous Project, a small photographic safari operator with its own exclusive game viewing area covering 300,000 acres.
Only eight guests are allowed into this area at any one time – and then only for five months of the year.
